Center Activities

The CJMHSA TAC provides training and technical assistance to entities applying for CJMHSA Reinvestment Grants as well as CJMHSA Reinvestment grantees.  We provide training and technical assistance on- and off-site based on the needs of the grantees and the nature of the assistance.

We conduct quarterly conference calls (telephonically or via webinar) with grantees to share evidence-based practices and processes delivered by USF, state, and national subject matter experts.  We review grantee quarterly reports and prepare an annual report summarizing our technical assistance activities as well as the progress of grantees. Providing up-to-date resources via this website is also part of our charge.  Web resources include federal and state funding opportunities; upcoming webinars related to criminal justice, substance abuse, and mental health services; and recent publications related to these topics.

Additional examples of training and technical assistance include:

  1. Assist in monitoring the effect of a grant award on the criminal and/or juvenile justice systems;
  2. Conduct a technical assistance needs assessment survey;
  3. Provide assistance to grantees completing the technical assistance needs assessment survey;
  4. Conduct Sequential Intercept Mapping as part of a planned CJMHSA TAC Needs Assessment Survey priority;
  5. Provide technical assistance to planning grantees and implementation/expansion grantees;
  6. Disseminate and share evidence-based practices and programs and promising practices and programs among grantees;
  7. Serve as a clearinghouse for information and resources related to criminal justice, juvenile justice, mental health, and substance abuse issues in Florida;
  8. Coordinate and assist state interagency work groups for criminal and juvenile justice, mental health, and substance abuse; and
  9. Use grant outcomes to inform state and local policy.
