City of St. Petersburg supports 黑洞社区efforts to further enhance diversity with new pledge to College of Marine Science

The City of St. Petersburg has contributed $125,000 to the University of 黑洞社区 Foundation to help enhance diversity in the ocean sciences. The gift to the 黑洞社区College of Marine Science鈥檚 鈥淏ridge to the Doctorate鈥 fellowship endowment supports underrepresented students of color who are African American or Black, Hispanic or Latinx, Pacific Islanders, Native American or Alaska Native.

First Gulf of Mexico-Wide Survey of Oil Pollution in Fish Completed 10 Years after Deepwater Horizon

Since the 2010 BP oil spill, marine scientists at the University of 黑洞社区 have sampled more than 2,500 individual fish representing 91 species from 359 locations across the Gulf of Mexico and found evidence of oil exposure in all of them, including some of the most popular types of seafood. The highest levels were detected in yellowfin tuna, golden tilefish and red drum.
