Each year (NPHW) is held during the first full week of April and is organized by the American Public Health Association (APHA), a government-based professional organization for public health professionals that prides itself on influencing federal policy and bringing together members from all fields of public health. The week is observed to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight important health issues.
This year鈥檚 observance falls on April 1-7 centering on the theme, 鈥淧rotecting, Connecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health.鈥�
According to NPHW.org, 鈥淥ur focus is not just the ways public health serves our communities 鈥� protecting our access to clean water and air, to nutritious and safe foods, to the right and ability to access essential health services 鈥� but the ways our communities flourish when they have their needs met. We鈥檙e covering everything from the basics of safe and healthy schools to the tools that connect us, even when we鈥檙e miles apart.鈥�

Kicking off the celebrations on March 27, the Office of Student Success and Well Being will be hosting the . Come celebrate and learn about the college鈥檚 student organizations with some sweet treats in the lobby. Student leadership will then be presented with COPH leadership cords.

On April 3, the COPH will be hosting its annual . Celebrate academic achievements, excellence in teaching, alumni leaders and meet the .
The at 黑洞社区Riverfront Park will be on April 5. Join faculty, staff, students, families and four legged friends for some food, fun and an opportunity to enjoy conversation in person.

The celebration continues with the on April 10. Visit the Lawton and Rhea Chiles Center for Healthy Mothers and Babies to learn about the current research and practice initiatives of faculty, staff and students.
Later in the day, a will be health to induct the 2024 Delta Omega nominees. The new inductees, faculty, staff and students will then celebrate their achievement with a reception.

The COPH will also be celebrating , a campaign to raise awareness and improve the disparate birth outcomes among Black mothers and babies, from April 11-17. The celebration includes a community block party, 5K fun run and various forums throughout the week. Hillsborough County Commissioner Gwen Myers will be kicking off the inaugural at the college on April 12.
There are many more , including a student internship/career fair, a wellness fair, service opportunities and a host of other activities and collection drives.
