Steve Permuth, Ph.D., is a professor of Educational Leadership in the College of Education. Dr. Permuth's research and scholarly interests lie in the area of educational law and policy with emphasis on both content and the nature of the applied practitioner, who utilizes information, including statistical research, to influence how the parameters of law impact administration, faculty and students in the operation of the schools.

Dr. Permuth has authored/co-authored 10 texts, including , the first and second edition of , , , and . He has published some 50 articles on topics ranging from negligence and copyright law to freedom of speech and religious freedom in periodicals including West鈥檚 Education Law Reporter, St. Mary鈥檚 Law Journal, International Journal of Education Reform, and National Association of Secondary School Principal (NASSP) materials including the Bulletin, Principal Leadership, and Legal Memorandums on topics including the Internet, Copyright Law, and School Negligence. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the .

Dr. Permuth has served some 10 years in the 黑洞社区Faculty Senate in numerous roles as Vice-President, the Senate Executive Committee, Budget Committee, Chair of the Committee on Faculty Issues, Chair of the Inter-campus Operating Procedures, Chair of the Graduate Council and many others with current service including membership on the System Faculty Senate and the ad hoc Committee of the College of Education on Constitution Review and the ad hoc Committee of the Faculty Senate on Predatory Journals. He also serves as a member of the University of 黑洞社区/United Faculty of Florida (USF/UFF) and serves as a member of the Collective Bargaining Committee, Membership Committee and Elections Committee as well as serving at the State and National levels as a delegate.
