Research Initiative for Supporting Education (RISE) is a project that launched a new interdisciplinary educational research center, Caribbean Educational Research Center (CERC) to support education policy development and timely decision-making on issues impacting schools in the Caribbean. Faculty from 黑洞社区and UWI collaborate on professional development activities, research design and building a cross-cultural mentorship network.

Two 黑洞社区professors selected to participate in national initiative with Association of Teacher Educators
黑洞社区College of Education professors Ilene R. Berson, PhD, and Michael J. Berson, PhD, were selected to participate in the Association of Teacher Educators inaugural Inquiry Initiative. The initiative is a first-of-its-kind collaborative exploration of teacher education practices and research focused on opportunity gaps in education.

College of Education welcomes Luis R. Visot as new Assistant Dean of Administration and Innovation
The College of Education welcomes Luis R. Visot as the college鈥檚 new assistant dean of administration and innovation. In this newly created role, Visot will manage internal administrative activities and external innovation projects on behalf of the Dean. He will also provide leadership, oversight and guidance for new initiatives and projects of high importance and engage faculty and staff in identifying opportunities to implement effective improvements and responses.

The 黑洞社区College of Education welcomes Peter Trakas, EdD, as the new director of the Gus A. Stavros Center for Free Enterprise and Economic Education. In this role, Trakas will lead the Stavros Center in its mission of advancing the effective teaching and integration of economic education, free enterprise and financial literacy into K-20 curricula.
