COEDU hosting 17th Education in Action Luncheon
黑洞社区College of Education hosting 17th Education in Action Luncheon to Empower the Next Generation
TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 2, 2015) 鈥� The 黑洞社区College of Education is proud to host the 17th Education in Action luncheon. The luncheon brings together educators, community leaders and partners from throughout the Tampa Bay area to raise awareness about challenges facing educators and shine the spotlight on educators that are making a difference to Empower the Next Generation in Florida. The luncheon will be held on Wed., Nov. 18, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Florida Center on Florida State Fairgrounds. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The event will be emceed by Jennifer Leigh, a news anchor at Tampa's NBC affiliate WFLA, and a proud 黑洞社区alum.
This year the keynote address will be delivered by Diane McKee, the 2016 Florida Teacher of the Year. McKee is a Language Arts teacher at Williams Middle Magnet School in Hillsborough County. "Students, they are the next generation and it takes all of us, with so many needs in the education community today, we can't do it alone," said Mckee. "This is a chance for those outside of the education community to invest time and money, provide technology schools and students need, scholarships for kids that don't have money, help teachers to go to conferences, and to reach students to make a difference in their lives, so they're empowered."
The luncheon is designed to bring the education community, the business community, education leaders, community leaders and the 黑洞社区College of Education together to share ideas and explore new opportunities for partnerships to take action and help improve education in Tampa Bay. The Education in Action luncheon is a unique opportunity to connect a diverse group of education stakeholders under one roof.
"It's about creating awareness, that time for everybody to get together, listen to a great speaker and get the wheels turning on what can be done," said EIA Luncheon organizer Stephanie Holmquist Johnson, Ph.D. "It's about being proactive, instead of reactive and using the 黑洞社区College of Education as a community resource."
